Over the weekend I took a trip to Stonehenge and Bath, it
was awesome!
On our way to Stonehenge we stopped in Salisbury, where we
were able to see the Salisbury Cathedral (home of the Magana Carta)! After
spending some time there we headed to Stonehenge!
Stonehenge was so windy; I could not believe it (I found it
difficult to stand in one spot, I nearly got blown over)! From the coach park
aka parking lot it was a 10-minute trolley ride to the site. We lucked out once
again with a beautiful day and were able to marvel at the wonders of Stonehenge
as well as the surrounding views!
As we were headed down the hill it started
pouring but we were in the trolley at this point so it was perfect timing. The
trolley dumped you right into the gift shop (surprise, surprise) but I didn’t
mind because they offered free wine tasting which was awesome! When I looked
out the window of the gift shop I noticed that the rain had subsided and a
merely perfect rainbow had taken its spot…absolutely breathtaking!
After Stonehenge we headed to Bath!
We arrived to Bath Saturday night (around 4pm), and we had
reservations (at 5pm) through the IES program for dinner at a restaurant called
ASK Italian. There was a lot of anticipation leading up to this meal because we
had to sign up for what we wanted a week in advance and it was 3 courses! For an appetizer I ordered bruschetta,
entre was mushroom ravioli with spinach and goat cheese and for dessert an apple
calzone with vanilla gelato (sounds better than it tasted, no need to be
jealous).
After dinner (aka 9pm) we quickly realized that the night had escaped us and most of the town was closed. As we walked around we found a café called Café Rouge and we ordered some Irish coffees and then retreated to the hostel.
It's crazy to think that as of yesterday I have been here for a month, time is flying there is still so much more adventure ahead!
Cheers!
