DUBSTEP LONDON STYLE

Last night I went to a dubstep show at The Fire in Vauxhall. I saw Destroid, Trolley Snatcha, Megalodon, Badklaat and Genetix.

Getting to the show was an adventure in itself; we got a tad lost and went through security at the wrong venue. Once we got closer to the door we realized that reggae music was blasting so it further confirmed our suspicions that we were at the wrong place. Between the wrong and right venue I some how managed to loose my ticket (grrrrrr), so I had to buy another one at the door.

Upon entering the club I was overwhelmed, the scene was dark and smoky and packed to the max with people. It took me awhile to get over the fact that I lost my initial ticket but there’s no point in sulking around (considering I paid twice), so I was there to have a good time. My favorite set of the night was probably Destroid but after awhile they all sorta sounded the same (haha).

The crowd there was not what you would expect, it was very different from America. In America the general audience tends to be younger but here the age demographic was a bit higher. The attire also differed. Instead of bright obnoxious colors everyone was dressed in fairly dark colors. (Heres a peak at what I wore, don't mind my facial expression).

Overall, I had a great time but its one of those things I probably wouldn’t do again due to it’s high sketchiness level. The scene was very sketchy as were the people. Before, during, and after the show we were offered various types of drugs from very friendly yet shady people (thanks but no thanks..).

The show started at 10pm and ended at 6am, needless to say we didn’t make it through the entirety of the show. We ended up leaving around 3am because we needed to be up at 7:00 to board a bus to Cambridge. To end the night on a high note, I took my first black cab ride (how London)!
