Would you look at this, two posts in one day (I’ve been super
busy)! It must be your lucky day! On Sunday I took a boat ride down the Thames
River and it was nothing short of spectacular! We lucked out with a super sunny day, which is rare to come
by in these parts so it was bound to be a good day! The boat trip started off
right underneath the London Eye, as we cruised away we had Big Ben and the
house of Parliament in our rearview.
Our destination…Greenwich.
On the way we passed under the notorious London Bridge,
which everyone is familiar with from the popular children’s song…(London Bridge
is falling down, lucky as we were passing under it, it wasn’t) and after that
we went under the Millennium Bridge (you might recognize it from Harry Potter
and the Half Blood Prince). Then we passed the Tower of London and Tower
Bridge!!!
(London Bridge...less than thrilling I know)

We finally arrived at Greenwich about an hour later and we headed to
the Greenwich market! This market was spectacular, there were so many food
stalls to choose from, I choose a lamb and halloumi wrap with hummus and yogurt sauce (sooooo good, halloumi is Greek cheese btw). After I
ate, I wanted a drink and what better than a spiced apple brandy!
In addition to the food stalls there were crafts and clothes, I bought an awesome faux fur hat, they're so hot in London right now (get the London look).
After leaving the market we headed on a walk up the hill and
were able to see some pretty awesome views of Greenwich and the Thames River.
At the top of the hill was the point of the Prime Meridian! I thought this was
pretty cool but not cool enough to spend 7 pounds to stand on it and take a
picture (how absurd) so I stuck my camera through the fence and snapped a shot.
After getting some stellar pics we headed back down the hill and were walking
in and out of the shops ultimately ending back up in the market for dessert. I
was torn between mini Dutch pancakes with nutella and bananas or a cupcake; I
opted for the cupcake (healthier option?). The cupcake was sooooo good it
raspberry chocolate coconut and vegan!
After leaving the market we headed towards home but decided
since the sun was still up there was more exploring to be done. So, instead of
getting off the tube at King’s Cross we got off at Covent Garden! Covent Garden was so awesome; it’s so relaxed and has so
many cute stores both mom & pop and chains (H&M <3). There were also
tons of street performers, which was awesome! We saw magic shows, heard opera
singers and saw live statues! After a lot of aimless wandering we found
ourselves in Neil’s Yard, which is a colorful little alley (obvious photo
moment).
I liked Covent Garden so much on Sunday that I went back to explore
more after class today. For lunch I stopped at Patissterie Valerie and got a
café mocha and a fruit tart (delicious) and then shopped a bit and headed home.
I know what you’re thinking…"Annie, you've been eating a lot” and you’re right I
have, but no need to worry I activated my gym membership and bought a girdle (“Is
she serious…..?” You’ll never know).
