Time is flying here in London, as of yesterday I
have already been here a week! Classes started this week, and let me tell you
they are longggggg (each class is 2.5 hrs, once a week)! In total I am taking
five classes or as the UK likes to call them modules.
On Monday, I took Censored! What the British couldn't see and it seems
like it’s going to be a very interesting class. On week 6 we are doing
presentations on scary movies (I hope I don't get assigned the exorcist).
Tuesday was the day from hell; I'm not going to lie (5 hrs of class). The
morning started off with From Aphra Behn to the Blitz: 300 years of London
Women's History, then I went to Managing Behaviors in Organizations. To my
surprise the women's history class was pretty cool but the business class was a
different story (I felt like I was in there for 524873948732 hours no
exaggeration). The sweetest little old man teaches the class but he couldn't be
any more boring and the sad part is that he actually tries to be engaging. He
went around the room asking everyone their majors and I was the only non-business
major but he was thrilled that I had a background in psych and said I was the
"unofficial expert" in the class since psych is so important to
managing people (***insert my excitement here***) . Today (Wednesday), I had
Media and UK Politics, this class focuses on UK politics and how it is
portrayed in the media specifically print media (newspapers/magazines).
Unfortunately, the real teacher could not be there to teach the class because he
was in Paris giving a lecture on the first World War (his area of expertise), in
his place however was a delightful women who unfortunately (for both her and
us) had no idea what she was doing which made for a very very very long 2.5
hours.
Before I forget let me tell you a little bit about the IES building. The IES building is located in Bloomsberry which is about 25 minutes away from where I am staying (it's a nice walk, you can also take the bus but thats for lazy people). The IES building is equipped with wifi (thank god) and has about 5 different class rooms in it (I haven't been able to snap a good pic yet), it also has a student lounge where you can make food and print out work. The building is in an awesome location, there is a square right across the street which serves as a nice and relaxing spot to hang out in before or in-between classes.

Once I escaped my final class of the day I headed over to City University
of London to complete my registration. The IES program allows their students to
take one class (3 credits) at a real London university; I am enrolled in a
psychology class there (hallelujah) called Judgments and Decision Making (I'm
super excited for this one, it starts Jan 27th).
To reward myself on making it through the first week of classes I’m
going to Spain for 2 days! Adios amigos!
